Exam Preparation Workshops for Schools

Helping students and parents get exam ready together

An interactive 90-minute session for students and their parents, covering how to revise effectively, how to prepare mentally, and how to stop nerves getting in the way on the day.

Why exam preparation, not just revision?

Most students revise hard but not well. They re-read, highlight and copy out notes, because these methods feel productive, but the research on learning tells a different story.

Revision is also only part of the picture. Students who know their material can still underperform if nerves take over, if they’ve slept badly, or if one difficult paper knocks their confidence for the rest of the exam season.

Parents want to help, but often aren’t sure how. Their well-meant support can sometimes add pressure rather than relieve it.

This workshop covers all of it, and brings students and parents into the same room to hear it together. every session is interactive, with tasks and discussions throughout. Families leave with strategies they can use straight away, not just information.

Sessions include a take-home guide for every family

About me

Study skills coach and A Level Psychology tutor

I am a trained facilitator of STEPS (Strategies to Tackle Exam Pressure and Stress), the British Psychological Society’s evidence-based programme for students experiencing exam anxiety. That training informs the way I help all students prepare for their exams. It sits alongside an in-depth Science of Learning course through Macquarie University, further BPS training in revision skills and exam preparation, and Open University study in autism, dyslexia and learner mental health. Together with my psychology degree and more than two decades of teaching, this means I bring a genuinely evidence-based understanding of how students learn and cope under pressure to every workshop.

Frequently asked questions

Can the session be adapted for our school?

Yes. I’ll tailor the content to your year group, exam board and timing, and I’m happy to discuss any particular concerns your students have. A student-only version that fits a timetabled period is also available.

Does it work for a large audience?

Yes. The session is designed to stay interactive whether the audience is a small group or a full year group with their parents.

When should we book?

Most schools run these sessions in the autumn term before mocks, or in the spring before final exams. Evenings book up quickly at both times, so it’s worth getting in touch early.
